Write or Draw to Connect and Bring Information Into the Physical World

Have you ever awoken in the middle of the night?  Say at 2:00 AM?  3:30?  4:00?  How many of us when we wake during the night, toss and turn while struggling to fall back asleep?

I have always called these awakening times the “bewitching hours” when information is trying to come to me from a bigger format—a spiritual realm—downloading into my energetic systems updates that help facilitate my letting go of old patterns, programs, or experiences and uploading data that assists in expanding my awareness, my growth.

I remember how creative and productive I was during my middle of the night “awakenings” while I was in grad school and how much information came through to assist me if I paid attention.

Instead of me lying there and not consciously participating, I gave myself permission to turn on the light and write anything that came to mind.  Sometimes I’d write exactly the information I remembered upon waking up. It may have been only one word. Other times I might have scribed a phrase, a sentence, a page, or drawn sketches.  Often I got answers that needed to be consciously brought into my emotional and mental levels.  I would receive clear and constructive answers or options as to how I should interact with certain people, how to solve an issue, or how to produce a particular art piece.

There were times when I’d wake up and go through this process for an hour or so, and then, I’d feel an ending point, turn out the light, and reenter my restful journey before sunrise.

This process of bringing through information from a more abstract world and grounding it into physical form, allowed my systems—mental, emotional, physical and spiritual—to release and let go, so that I could rest and awaken to receive and to activate the new.

We all have this power within us to connect, receive and integrate.  When we sleep, we dream. We may not remember our dreams, but most often there is processing going on in the dream world—whether it be conscious or subconscious.  Sometimes we are even nudged awake by our dreams and left thinking of them and their meaning.

For the most part, we are not alone. We have relatives who have crossed over, who watch over us, and spiritual guides, who assist us—all of whom are capable of delivering messages to us in our sleep, if they choose.

The next time we awaken in the middle of the night, we might want to check in and feel if there is anything that might need to come through us at that time. Begin our own practice as these moments arise.

Allowing and honoring our own becoming starts from within. Let us enjoy the journey of awakening!
